Entering variations into sku grid is easier on the front end, directly inside of sku grid instead of CSV. On CSV, there's a lot of room to enter the data wrong because supplier variation names can be a bit tricky, whereas, adding them directly in Sku Grid, you can just fetch in the variation names and select them correctly.

Q: Do I need to need to put in one variation and sku grid will deal with the rest? how do I write the variation(color|size|other)?

A: You would need a separate entry in sku grid for each variation that you have listed.  It is correct, it would be a different entry for each ASIN. Sku Grid does not automatically detect and add anything.  We'd highly recommend just importing your items from the Amazon Marketplace, then export the CSV from Sku Grid to modify instead of trying to create it all yourself.  That way, at least all your marketplace and ASIN information will be there and you just have to add supplier info. You do not write variation names for the amazon items that you have listed, but you would need variation names for your supplier variation names (if applicable... some supplier URLs need them and some don't.  If the supplier has unique URLs for each variation, then you don't need a supplier variation name, just the URL).

You can do the following.

  • Import Amazon Items from Marketplace (Import/Export --> Import from Marketplaces --> Import Items from Amazon).  Your items should already be listed on amazon, so just allow Sku Grid to pull in the details about your amazon items that do not already exist in the grid.
  • Export CSV from Sku Grid once done (Import/Export --> Export CSV).
  • Save a Copy of this spreadsheet (File --> Save As) just in case you make a mistake, you can go back to it.
  • On the CSV, enter whatever you want for your reference id into the "reference" column.
  • Enter your supplier URL into the "vendor_url" column
  • If the supplier does not have unique URLs for each variation, then enter the supplier variation name in the vendor_variant column. You would just need the variation name exactly as it is at the supplier. For example, if it's just a color and the variation you are modifying is "Blue", then you would just type Blue for the vendor_variant.  However, if the variation has more than one part -- for example a color and a size that have to be selected at the supplier and let's say that it is both Blue and Large.  Then you would separate the 2 values with a vertical line, and enter the vendor_variant as Blue|Large.
  • Once done with the spreadsheet, delete all items from Sku Grid (Advanced --> Delete All Items from Sku Grid)
  • Import your revised CSV (Import/Export --> Import CSV)

Q: If I don't put a compare item and just upload the ASIN, will sku grid reprice my item for sure? it will not get confused with the same ASIN from a different seller?

A: Compare items do not affect repricing, that's just a display feature. You need, at a minimum, your vendor_url, vendor_variant (if applicable), reprice_store (which is your marketplace AMAZON_US), and the reprice_sku (which is your ASIN). Sku Grid is not going to reprice other sellers, it will like the items to the merchant id that you have set in your marketplace settings.
